But do you ever imagine a life without these disciplines? What would be like if social sciences and other disciplines under it did not exist? Do you think that people could have easily survived? Is it more convenient and easier to live a life without these kinds of disciplines?
Has it ever crossed to your mind that having Social Sciences and its disciplines in your life and to this world is important?
Well of course each and everyone is important and part of our society. Therefore we could say that because of Social Sciences and its disciplines, our lives had improved better because without one aspect of life, its not complete since our society functions as a whole and as one nation. Everything in this world has a role to fulfill and has a reason behind it.
These are 10 reasons why it is important to know Social Sciences and its disciplines since it helps shape our lives:
1. The Social Scientists are the ones who researches and studies the human behavior of individuals in the society from how they behave to the way they interact to other people in order to understand and determine the changes of behavior, the way people adapt and adjust to their environment and how they react and interact to other people.
2. Social Sciences helps us understand and interpret the histories, artifacts, culture, and origins of people, place and things in this world
3.Social Sciences lets let people interact, communicate, and translate words for people to express the things they want to say through different languages
4. Social Sciences allow people to know their rights as a person as well as to be informed to the laws and policies made by the government in becoming a good citizen
5. Social Sciences also teaches people on how to think critically through various kinds of situations through logical thinking and use our common sense
6. Social Sciences makes people go beyond what they know and be open to new possibilities and to broaden our horizons to the world and to other people
7. Social Sciences can help people monitor the population growth from birth, death and migration every year
8. Social Sciences has a concept of Spatial Thinking by helping people to envision to what, where, when, why and how they can
9.Social Sciences helps people to calculate their savings, stocks, production, budget your money and supply the needs and wants of people in the easiest way possible with limited resources
10.Social Sciences helps people to see and understand the beauty of nature and find ways to resolve the problems about environment
Sample Studies made by Social Scientists
1. "Toward critical spatial thinking in the social sciences and humanities"
-According to Janelle, and Goodchild (2010),this study can be mainly related to Psychology since it talks about how people envision to what, where, when, why and how they can find the meaning and purpose of things through one's ability and skills in understanding, interpreting and engaging especially underpinnings of life.
2."All For All:
Equality, Corruption and Social Trust"
-According Rothstein and Uslaner (2006), this study is related to Political Science which tells us that social trust can not be achieved if there is social inequality due to the little actions done by the government to address the needs of people that leads to corruption upon low social trust, low equality and poor government performance. The fault of one is the fault of all.
We need to admit that social sciences together with its other disciplines is a big help to our society. We has been known to a wide variety of contribution to people throughout the history. It helped us discover the meaning and understand
So we must never discriminate any kind of people for their jobs because no matter how small their contribution is, it can make a big difference in this world. That's why being a HUMSS (Humanities and Social Sciences Strand) student is not as easy as it looks but it is offers more than what one thinks of. It lets you go beyond your limits, widen your imaginations, and see new possibilities in all things. Everyone has a role and purpose in life, but we must see the meaning in all that we do no matter how easy or hard it is, it can still change the world into a better place to live in. Through this, we consider Social Sciences as a vital subject in our lives.
"The social sciences offer equal promise for improving human welfare; our lives can be greatly improved through a deeper understanding of individual and collective behavior. But to realize this promise, the social sciences, like the natural sciences, need to match their institutional structures to today's intellectual challenges."
-Nicholas A. Christakis
